Nanoparticle Chemist
NanoComposix is a rapidly growing nanotechnology R&D company in San Diego, California that has an immediate opening for a Nanoparticle Chemist. We are looking for a candidate that has extensive experience with solution-phase synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles. The successful applicant will help develop new nanoparticle products as well as play a key role in challenging projects that require continuous innovation. Full benefits will be provided. Salary is commensurate with background and experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience fabricating and characterizing nanoparticles such as metal (gold, silver, copper, platinum), magnetite, titania, silica, polymer, or semiconductor nanoparticles.
- Ability to multi-task in a wide variety of technical disciplines. Must work well in a fast paced, start-up environment.
- US Citizen/Permanent Resident
Desired Skills:
- Experience with nanoparticle product formulation development
- Experience with the formulation and stabilization of nanoparticles in organic and aqueous dispersions.
- Experience with Surface Enhanced Fluorescence and/or Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
- Experience with TEM, DLS, Zeta potential, optical microscopy and spectroscopy, and X-ray powder diffraction.

Nanoparticle Chemist Intern
Rapidly growing nanotechnology research and development company is looking for innovative and self-motivated scientist for a summer intern position. The candidate will be exposed to a number of different research projects, and will participate in the synthesis and development of a wide variety of commercial nanomaterial products. The position is available immediately. This is a paid internship with salary commensurate with background and experience.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry (Junior or Senior level students working towards their degree will be considered as well).
- Experience with analytical, physical, inorganic, or organic chemistry laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment.
- Ability to multi-task, handle frequently changing job functions, and rapidly learn new techniques and approaches.
- Pays significant attention to detail and carefully documents all experimental procedures, observations and methodology. The ability to keep organized data and records.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of computers and use of MS word, excel, and powerpoint. Experience with MATLAB is a benefit.
- US citizenship or green card
Desired Skills
Experience fabricating, functionalizing, and processing nanomaterials
- Experience with the bioconjugation of targeting molecules to surfaces or particles
- Experience with UV-Vis, DLS, Zeta-Potential, MALDI-MS, FT-IR, DLS, TEM, or SEM.
