In a zeta potential measurement, the electrophoretic mobility of particles under an applied electric field is measured and used to calculate zeta potential. Zeta potential provides information about the electrokinetic behavior of the particle surface and can help identify changes in surface chemistry, formulation conditions, and electrostatic stabilization. Its magnitude should be interpreted in the context of the surrounding medium rather than as a universal measure of colloidal stability.
At nanoComposix, zeta potential testing is performed using a Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS instrument.
